We Were There....Were You??

Mitzi and I took the girls to "High School Musical 3 Senior Year" on Saturday. We wanted to try to go on opening day (Friday), but we just couldn't make it work, so Saturday it was. Makenna was at a birthday party that went to see it, so it was just Tearney and I. It was fun to get to spend time with just her. She was soooooo excited to get to go!
She was in pure heaven....she got popcorn, a pop and a piece of candy, plus she got to see Troy and Gabriella (her favorites). She told me it was the "greatest movie ever!"

A Day at the Patch

We had a great time at the pumpkin patch on Saturday afternoon. Other than being a little windy, it was a beautiful fall day!

One of the favorite activities of the day was the horse drawn hayrack ride. Jentree kept saying, "Yee-haw horsey!"

The boys really wanted to go through the corn maze this year, so off we went. I will say, I was a bit nervous that we would end up losing one of them in that maze, but we came out with everyone accounted for. Our sense of direction in there was less than desirable, but maybe that had to do with our "guides." The kids all took turns deciding which way we would go. I think we went in circles for quite a while in there!!!

The kids all chose their own pumpkin, so the remainder of the day was spent finding "the perfect" pumpkin. It was interesting to watch each of them finding the one they wanted. Makenna chose the largest pumpkin, and Calder picked a small green one. We will have plenty of carving to do this next weekend!

You Don't See This Everyday!

We decided that we were going to take the kids to the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday afternoon after the boys' football games. So, we hurry back home from Tanner's game, get changed and head off to the patch. When we arrived in Salina, and got on I-135, we noticed traffic backed WAY up. So, we are expecting to see an accident.....well, we weren't expecting a PLANE in the road when we got around the fire truck!!I grabbed my camera because I am fairly certain that this was one of those moments that won't happen again in my life (or at least I hope not!!). Everyone was fine on the plane thankfully. The pilot apparently didn't get his fuel tanks switched appropriately, and couldn't get his plane restarted, so he had to make an emergency landing. What a sight to see!

Woo-Hoo!!

Mylee had a doctor's appointment on Wednesday. We haven't had to go to the doctor since her last well baby check, so we are pretty excited about that!!! The office staff at our pediatrician's office were really excited to see her, and kept commenting on how good she looks. She is now 21 lbs!!!!! She is walking all over the place, and is getting into everything. Way to go Mylee!!

A View From The Other Side of The Track

Derek is coaching middle school football this year, and we went to his last home game about a week ago. We pulled into the parking lot, we all got out of the car and headed to the field. When we arrived at the gate, I automatically began to veer to the right toward the visitor's side without much thought. I was reminded by Stub that we were the "home" team, and I needed to take a left to go sit in the stadium. I must say that I felt rather awkward. For the last umpteen (because I can't remember how many) years, I have sat on the other side, so sitting in the main stadium felt a little "off." Not a bad thing, but different. Much like if you were to sleep on the other side of the bed.

Derek seems to be doing well. His team won that night pretty convincingly. I was happy for him.....and I even cheered. :-)

Cheaper By The Dozen?

Today is our 12th Wedding Anniversary. The picture here isn't so good (my old scanner won't work with my computer, so I took a picture with my camera--doesn't work the best, but you get the idea!!).

The kids told us today that the last time they had a babysitter was when we went on our honeymoon!!! I hated to break it to them that we had NO need for a sitter when we went on our honeymoon (to Disney World!!). Then, when they were looking at our wedding pictures, Tearney started giggling and pointing at our album. "You two were kissing!" Stub proceeded to tell her that was the ONLY time he has EVER kissed me. Then, they asked the magic question....."Where are we in these pictures?"

The best comment today probably came from Makenna. She made us a card with a very pretty flower on the front. She was incredibly proud of her artwork, and stood by anxiously waiting for us to open it. It read, "Happy Anniversary!" I hope we get a baby (insert HUGE SPACE HERE, then further down the page....)sister, then the "s" erased out and a "t" inserted for "sitter". Yes, panic briefly set in on that one!

Happy Anniversary honey! Love you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TANNER!!

10 years ago today, we became parents for the first time. Wow!!! Where does time go?? It sure seems like it was just yesterday that we were getting to hold him for the first time. I just can't believe Tanner can be a ten year old (double digits!)! When I think back to that day, I can relive it almost minute by minute. It didn't quite go exactly how we had anticipated, but the end result has been a fun filled 10 years!

He still isn't very big, but I think he has grown a bit from 4 lbs 7 oz and 17 3/4 inches long!! We love you lots Tanner!!

Can You Do That in Flag Football??

Calder is certainly enjoying getting to play flag football. Our Saturday mornings have been filled with football games--oftentimes, Tanner is going one way, and Calder is playing here in town. So, we have begun the dividing and conquering method of going with the boys.

Last Saturday we were fortunate that Tanner had a bye for his regular season play, so we all were able to go to Calder's game. His favorite position to play is center, but this weekend, we only had 4 players show up, so they all played a little bit of everything!!
Calder got to run the ball quite a bit, which he really enjoyed also. He has learned alot from the neighborhood football games in our yard--namely, grab and go!!Of course, as you can see, he has also figured out that he can use his strength to move the other players out of his way--except, well, I guess you can't do that in flag football. In this picture, he ended up pushing his way through about 4 of the other team's players.

He CANNOT wait until next year, when he gets to put on the pads. Mom likes flag football just fine, but I don't think I will have him convinced to play it for "just one more year!" :o)

KSU and Jr Cowboy Football!

Tanner was pretty excited this morning to get to play football at K-State. I will admit that the venue helped soften the fact that we had to get up so early to be on the road on a Sunday morning. We didn't have any trouble getting the kids up and going today! It was a pretty neat experience for the boys. The team ran out onto the field just like the visiting team does for a K-State game. They were so small out there on that BIG field!! I swear it looks so much larger than our regular field, although they are both the same size. Tanner is #2. They ended up losing, but it's all about the experience, right? We just HAD to stop for a picture by the powercat!!!

A Royal Evening

Last night was Homecoming at the high school football game. Tearney was one of the little attendants this year, and she was pretty excited.
When someone would comment on how dressed up she was, her reply was, "I am the Homecoming Queen!" Another big moment for her was getting her corsage. She was enthralled with "her flower," and even more excited when I told her she was able to keep it.

She got to help crown the queen and hand out flowers. Her best friend, Aiden (who is also our neighbor) was the other little attendant. They did a great job!

Jentree had a good time moving from lap to lap. (Thank you to everyone who helped entertain her!!--We are forever indebted to you!!!)

Horsing Around

This past Saturday, we went over to a roping going on at the Fairgrounds to watch our friend, Scott rope. Makenna and Tearney stayed the night with Grandma, so we told the boys we would go do something fun for them.

During the roping, Scott let us go for some rides on his spare horse, Mongo. Calder and Jentree were very excited over getting to go riding. They both love horses.

The kids all loved going for their rides. In fact, when mom and dad were tired of going in circles over and over and over (you get the picture!), there were many objections to our stopping. I think I see some more horse riding in our future--especially since the girls found out about our outing when they got home the next day!
