State and Brute Adidas Nationals.....A Little Late

So, State Wrestling was a few weeks ago, and I realized I had not ever posted pictures.  So, I figured I had better get on the ball!

The decorated windows on the Excursion:

The Opening Ceremony.  It was a pretty cool experience.  All of the teams march in to "Eye of the Tiger," and they announce the team as they enter.  Tanner was chosen to be one of the team banner holders.  He is on the right side.

This is a picture of all of the wrestlers at the end of the Opening Ceremony.  Wow!

Tanner wrestling away.

All in all, it was a really cool experience.

The following weekend, we headed to Kansas City for Brute Adidas Nationals.  It was held at Memorial Auditorium.  That was another eye opening experience.  Tanner was able to meet kids from all over the country, and we got to sit in on some cool presentations with 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist, Henry Cejudo.  (Don't be fooled-- I had NO idea who he was until that weekend, but it really was pretty cool).

The kids all listening to Henry Cejudo talk about the Beijing Olympics.  What a cool story!

Getting a poster autographed.

Taking a break.

Tanner's Certificate and Medal.

Another really cool experience.  If you would have told me a few years ago that I would be following my boys around to wrestling tournaments, I would have told you that you might be crazy.  I can say that I am getting used to it, although I still watch with my hands over my face, and in between my fingers.  :-)   We have definitely been able to experience some cool things this year.   Calder says he wants to try more tournaments, so maybe we will have double the crew on the mats.    He hasn't been real gung ho on the tournaments, but enjoyed going to practices.  I think he will certainly enjoy the challenge!  (And mom will somehow figure out how to not cover her eyes during the match!)

Spring Concert #1

It is April, and with that comes all of the various programs and activities.  Makenna had her Spring Concert tonight at school.  They did a great job singing and dancing to the songs.  She loved getting to wear little heels for the first time!
