1st Haircut!

Jentree has had a few "self-service" haircuts over the years (AKA--she cut her own hair), but she had never had a real haircut.  Along with her budding cosmetology moments, her hair just grew very slowly in the front, and fairly quickly in the back.  So, she has looked like she has had a mullet of sorts.  I know--VERY fashionable!!  :-)

I decided on Thursday, that we were going to take care of the problem as most of her hair had finally reached the point that a bob would be all one length.  She was SOOO excited to get her haircut!

I love her new haircut!  She looks so grown up now!  She is so proud to show it off, so watch out if you see us!

Finishing up the season

Makenna and Tearney have finished up playing regular League Softball this past week.  Stub and I coached Tearney's Coach Pitch league team.  We had a fun time with the girls!

Makenna is still playing travel softball, and her team played in a tournament in Concordia yesterday.

There is usually plenty of down time in between games.  So, the girls get quite resourceful in passing the time.  Card games were the activity yesterday.

Now, it is on to State Softball next weekend!  Good Luck Attack!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Mylee!!!

Mylee is 3 years old today!!!
You are the happiest little girl, and love, love, love to play dress up.  You usually can be seen carrying something around the house--usually one of your babies or something you have turned into a purse.  I swear you change clothes at least 4 times during the day--what are you going to be like when you are a teenager--YIKES!!  :)

You still don't talk much, but we sure know what you are wanting--you have your own way of getting your point across!  You and Jentree are the best of friends, and love to play together all day long.

We love you sweetie!!!

Harvest in Review

Harvest 2010 has come and gone.  We made our annual trek to the field to eat supper, and get rides on Grandpa's combine.  The kids love getting to go to the field--it is always fun to eat outside!

The blue sky was beautiful against the golden wheat.

Eating supper on the side of the road.

Going for a stroll.

Climbing on the combine--it is tall!

Going for rides with Grandpa--the favorite activity!

Waiting my turn for a ride.

The view from inside the combine cab in the field.

The header working away.  The wheat flies right in!

Before we know it, it will be time for the 2011 harvest!  The kids can't wait for their ride!

Stampede!

A couple of weeks ago, I went to Country Stampede for the first time.  It is a 4 day outdoor concert filled with country artists, and always has some pretty big performers on the line up.  It is in Manhattan, which is only 40 minutes away, but I had never gone (this was its' 15th year).  I had my eyes opened to all I had been missing (the good, the bad, and the ugly--and there was an awful lot of all three! ha!)!

The main stage.

Rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey.  Whiskey makes my baby.....Yep, Luke Bryan was there!

Miranda Lambert was the headliner for the first night.

Little Big Town
Other groups we saw were:  Montgomery Gentry, Darius Rucker (aka Hootie from Hootie and the Blowfish)--Awesome!, Lo Cash Cowboys, Billy Currington, Daryl Worley, Craig Morgan and Keith Urban--Double Awesome, plus many more!!  I wasn't able to get good pictures of these, but there were some really great concerts!  I think (actually, I know!) I attended more live concerts that weekend, than I have ever even thought about going to combined all together!  :)  Stub was even able to go on Saturday night to see Montgomery Gentry, and we danced!

My eyes may never be the same again after seeing some of the outfits people wore out there, but apparently "anything goes" at Country Stampede as far as attire!!

All in all--it was a very fun weekend, with good friends.  I may have to do that again...right after my eyes recover!!!  :)

4th of July + Rain = Fun!

The 4th was a little wet here (OK..maybe a lot wet), but that didn't stop us from having fun.  The kids LOVED getting to play in the rain, and stomping in the puddles with Mom and Dad.  It was the perfect excuse to act like a kid!

Everyone showing off their frogs after the Frog Races.  Mylee wanted NOTHING to do with those frogs!  A very loud "NO!" came out of her mouth every time one would get close.

Jentree was not pleased to be having a photo op in the rain, so we decided to capture the moment with her in her glory.  One day she will thank us, I am sure!  ha!

Since it was raining, we spent the afternoon at the new movie theater in town watching "Toy Story 3."  I may have even had a tear or two at the end.  Sniff...
We came home, had an All American meal of grilled hot dogs, brats, grilled corn on the cob, watermelon and strawberries and bananas.  Mmmmm!

The best part of the day?  The rain stopped, and the fireworks show went on!!

Happy Birthday America!

Going on a Frog Hunt!

After our Great Frog Hunt of 2009 did not go so well, the kids (and Dad!) were determined to have a better showing this year.  We went with experienced Frog Hunters (aka: our neighbors!) this year to maximize our efforts.

Walking down the lane to the pond.

Scouting out the hiding places and perfecting the game plan.

Locating the sneaky subjects.

Mitzi and I sat on the dock watching with amusement as the flashlights were beaming all over the place in search of the elusive frogs.  There may have even been some Australian accents used to narrate the situation.  :-)  Crikey!!

Our clan:  :-)

We ended the night with 10 frogs of various sizes.   Of course, now the talk is "that one is best!" but we can sort that all out on the game field!  We finished the night by shooting off some fireworks and enjoying the beautiful night.  The Great Frog Hunt 2010 = SUCCESS!!
